About
As both a studio and plein air artist, I adhere to the old adage "light is the bringer of beauty". My work has a strong emphasis on light, most obvious in my representational paintings. "Chasing the light" is the best description of my journey.
Upon graduating from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth, courtesy of the GI Bill, I became an art instructor and Department Chair at Oliver Ames High School in Easton, Massachusetts, where I worked for thirty years. After retiring, I continued my love of teaching at Northeastern University’s Professional Development Institute, where I stayed for seven years.
My work can be viewed at my gallery space at SOWA Arts District in Boston, Studio 222 at 450 Harrison Ave. I have gallery representation at NOA Gallery at the Groton Inn, Groton, Massachusetts.

“Arnie Casavant has a special gift beyond his ability to draw people to him through lively conversation; he also captures them by capturing light and shadow in oil paint, expressing form through compelling compositions and clear values.”
Boston is a major subject in my work. Capturing my subjects in a special light is my passion. “Light is the bringer of beauty ” is an adage that resonates with me.
